Join our Bike Bus for a group ride to PHS, or meet up to walk/roll/scoot/bus your way to school! We’re planning scheduled stops along a route below for biking, walking, and scooting where families can join in.
This group bike ride is suitable for all ages, including TK, K, and slower riders–there will be adults ready to help anyone who needs to walk up steeper hills to make sure the group stays together across intersections.

Bike Route Timeline / Meeting Locations
- Meet at 7:30 (Windmill / Great Highway)
- Meet at 7:40 (Middle & Metson)
- Meet at 7:50 (5th & MLK)
- Meet at 7:55 (8th & JFK)
- Meet at 8:00 (Lake & 22nd)
- Meet at 8:05 (Lake & 8th)
- Presidio Hill School – Arrive at 8:15
If you’re walking, running, skating, or scooting and want to meet up with the larger bike group, please feel free to join at the listed time and have some overlap, or meet us all at the Clay & Cherry final checkpoint and all arrive together.
Designated adult roles
Please appoint a designated parent to ride in the front and back of your groups to keep an eye on everyone and make sure the kids stay together.
Safety vests
If you have a high-vis vest, it’s always a good idea to wear one!
Curbside safety at PHS
There will be a 2-foot “caution” zone next to the white zone so no one worries about cars entering the white zone getting near the individuals or bikes on the curb.
Group photo timing
We will have two group photos in front of the school: at 8:20am and at 8:40am. Please be aware that this is a busy drop-off time and stay on the sidewalk at all times.
Bike and scooter storage
PHS has designated storage areas for bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc., on campus. Please check with staff at the front of the school on arrival to find your spot.
Lake & Arguello to Sacramento intersection crossing
1) Get the entire group tightly packed at the top of the Lake St hill, waiting on green lights as necessary to make sure we’re all together. Try to get the kids on their own bikes near the front of the group. Kristan will block us from going until we’re all ready.
2) Kirsten H. will move ahead to the southbound Arguello corner / sidewalk wearing a high-vis vest, prepared to stop traffic when we’re ready to go
3) Kelly D. will move ahead to the northbound Arguello corner / sidewalk wearing a high-vis vest prepared to stop traffic when we’re ready to go
4) The group will start together on a green light, trying to all cross in a large tight group. Kirsten and Kelly will make sure everyone is through the intersection before letting cars through. When the light turns red, please stop and wait and form a new group to cross on the next green. Kelly and Kirsten will remain for crossings as needed until everyone is through and then join at the rear of the bike bus.
